Have you ever read something that stays with you days after you read it? Tamel Wino creates that in their short stories. The craftsmanship of each tale is intricately woven to leave just such an aftertaste in your mind.
Each story has its own dark undertones that kept me saying “just one more” while I read into the wee hours of the morning. One specifically, Marlene, has yet to leave my mind. The story is about Hazel Landis’s quest to elevate her career to the next level. Wino develops the characters in a way that makes them approachable. Hazel could be you or someone you know. It’s short. It’s dark. It’s riveting. And this was just the beginning of the book.
As I mentioned before, the different stories continue to deliver dark tales that pull you in. Reading this during the evening hours, as the clock ticked by into the wee hours of the morning, I still kept sliding my app to the next screen. It was a great October read.
